Ed Boon, creative director at NetherRealm studios, has officially announced Mortal Kombat X via Twitter:
The name of the game is "Mortal Kombat X"

Fans will once again get to destroy their enemies in hyper-violent fashion. Soon after the tweet, the official trailer for the game was released. Judging by what we see, there is no actual gameplay there but the game is sure to show it’s true colors at E3 next week.
Mortal Kombat X does not have an official release date but towards the end of the trailer it says MKX is set forĀ 2015. Don’t expect to play the game this year. The official press release from Warner Bros. Interactive states that the game will be released on PC, X1, 360, PS3, and PS4.
